Metalworking Ordinary Copper [SCM435] Characteristics
It has high hardening suitability and good machinability.
SCM435 is a chromium-molybdenum steel with a carbon content of approximately 0.33 to 0.38%. Its yield strength is generally above 485 MPa, and its tensile strength is above 930 MPa. Among chromium-molybdenum steels, it has relatively high mechanical properties. Even slight differences in carbon content can affect mechanical characteristics. ◎ Suitable Applications - General machine parts - Bolts and nuts ◎ Features - High hardenability - Good machinability - Suitable for high-frequency hardening - Suitable for vacuum hardening ◎ Suitable Processing - Milling - Turning - Grinding after hardening It is one of the alloy steels for mechanical structures, commonly referred to as "chromoly" or "chromoly steel." It is an improved version of chromium steel with added molybdenum, offering superior hardenability compared to SCr materials. In addition to excellent resistance to tempering, it has superior mechanical properties and toughness, making it suitable for automotive parts, bolts, and nuts. It is said to maintain strength even at high temperatures around 500°C, and is sometimes used in environments where high temperature and high pressure are expected.
